Tarbet pier redevelopment, Isle of Harris

Project timescale –Manufacture September 2020 till Installation during May 2021

Solway Precast was awarded the manufacture of Pier capping beams to sit on the pile caps to form the outer edge for the new pier for the Caledonian MacBrayne ferries to land at Tarbet. We started this project and it was then delayed due to Covid 19 but Solway quietly manufactured through this difficult period and when R J McLeod was ready to accept delivery of the units over a short period we achieved this. Stornoway haulier D R Macleod was awarded the task to deliver over 40 loads of precast including 24 wide loads to Tarbet for us. The heaviest unit was 27 tonnes down to 17 tonnes and our site crane was a key part of this project.
